This is what old school NFSU1&2 fans have been waiting for 20 years, this is really rough but it looks promising, I'm definitely backing up their kickstarter right now

Waiting for the full release. Emotion Engine gave me a huge dopamine boost speeding through the freeway. I just know this game is gonna pop off once it fully releases

going into this game it definitely felt like a game for car people and racing game fans, neither of which im really much of. i've never really touched the major racers like need for speed or burnout or whatever just because they kinda missed me. this game might be the game that converts me though, this shit is awesome. i remember seeing this game a couple years ago and following the page on twitter for it because it looked so cool but it left my mind for a very long time until i heard someone mention it and i realized there was a whole demo out on steam.

jumping into this game and seeing how stylistic it was in its loading screens and ui was something that jumped out at me and stuck with me for the entire game. the game taking place in 90s japan with all the aesthetics of the technology of the time already gives it a really good vibe that pulled me in. then, that first moment after you buy your car and take it for a spin on the way to tatsumi PA and the music fades in as you instinctively floor it, going fast as fuck on a nighttime highway honestly feeling a little terrified by how fast you're going but also in a trance is such a magical moment that immediately sold me on this game. this game just captures such a good vibe that i haven't felt since playing bomb rush cyberfunk last year. also i just need to mention this game's ost goes crazy and really helps elevate things in the vibes department, i cannot get emotion engine by dazegxd out of my head ever since hearing it for the first time in this game.

as far as the gameplay goes, as i mentioned before the feeling of driving fast as fuck in this game is equally a liberating but also very scary feeling and i love it. even when im not in a race and just speeding to whatever destination you feel a real rush weaving through cars and tractor trailers. speaking of races, thats the main thing you're here for in this game. you're placing wagers on races to eventually pay off a few million yen in debt that's tossed on you at the start of the game, meanwhile making a name for yourself in the local racing scene going up against people of increasing rep in the community. the races themselves are a lot of fun and offer some variety, but the ai is either very good or slow as hell and i haven't really found much of an in between in this game. later on it will come down to whether or not you have upgraded your car accordingly in order to match the speed of the better racers in this game, and trying to upgrade your car can sometimes be an uphill battle when you have debt payments to make and not much pocket money to work with which can suck. also, one complaint i've seen others talk about that i agree with is trying to maneuver your way around this map. with time you will get used to traveling to some areas and understand your way around, but for the most part you will have to rely on a gps system that is a little annoying to use at times because of how easy it is to miss a turn and how little guidance the game gives you except a very thin blue line that's supposed to be guiding you to your destination and can be really difficult to read.

i think what's here in this demo is really promising. while it can feel a bit same-y at times and maybe even a little bare bones in its racing gameplay and world, doing the same races, only having one area available to travel around that becomes familiar pretty quickly, not many goals to work towards, and npc dialogue that's pretty limited and has lines that get repeated frequently, i think there's a lot of potential to make a full map and game here that will feel super variable and keep you coming back. there are plenty of areas you can't travel to yet that the game tells you are under construction which is already really promising in itself because of how much potential there is for this game to be pretty expansive, and there are also parts of your car that can't be upgraded yet in this demo meaning they really have plans to go all out in customization, even though they honestly already have gone all out with it in this demo alone to a point that felt a little intimidating to someone who knows nothing about cars except how to drive them.

i'm gonna shut up now i talked way too in depth about a demo for a game. i just haven't been able to get this game out of my head ever since i started playing it a couple days ago and even though i paid off my in game debt i wanna keep playing it and deck out my car and beat the game's "rep boss." this game fucks hard go play it it's a free demo that you can probably squeeze hours and hours out of

note to self: brake before turns in the tunnel(s) and downshift twice before stepping on the gas

Most promising racing game from the last 10 years or so, really hyped for the final release

Flip Witch is a metroidvania and a porn game, crafted by the brilliant developers at Momo games, that manages to do some things better than a lot of the games in either genre. The phrase "some things" is only referencing metroidvanias though, because Flip Witch is easily the best porn game I've ever played.

While I'm no connoisseur of games du pornographique, most of the ones I have played all suffer a similar problem: for one reason or another, it takes way too long to get to the good stuff. It becomes a question of "When can I 'enjoy myself'?" because pretty much every single one feels like a series of hoops to jump through to see what you actually want. If that leaves you unsatisfied... well, tough luck. Here's another set of hoops to jump through before your next chance at "blasting off".

Flip Witch does none of that. It knows what you're here for and it gives it to you. A lot of it. Once you unlock an animated sex scene, whether it be upon completion of a quest or from the game over screen, you can rewatch it as many times as you like from the main menu's gallery. This single feature changes the question from "When can I 'enjoy myself'?", to "When do I want to 'enjoy myself'?" Now I'm jumping through hoops not because I want to cure my blue balls, but because I'm genuinely excited to see what else I can find. And in true Metroidvania fashion, there's quite a lot to discover.

In the world of "it's still a porn game, did you really think I even noticed if the land you explore has a name?", every level is filled with new enemies, bosses, quest npcs, quest items, costumes, and gacha coins. Let's break that all down- in the beginning of the game you meet a cowgirl named Belle, who asks you to find her cowbell. You find it in a chest that's borderline impossible to miss if you play the level normally. Once you bring the cowbell back to Belle, you're treated to a special scene with her. It might be a little underwhelming by itself, but it gives the player two massive reasons to continue exploring the map- so you can find more quest npcs, and the items they need. (What were you thinking?) But some quest npcs need you to wear a specific costume before starting their quest, so how do you get costumes? By finding the costume shop girl, who hides in different corners of every region in the game with new costumes specific to that area. But wait, each one costs 500 gold or more? Now chests that give you lots of gold instead of a unique item aren't so disappointing to open. Enemies aren't just fun to look at anymore, fighting them gives you gold. Gold that brings you closer to new costumes, which bring you closer to brand spanking new sex scenes! (Too bad there aren't any brand new spanking sex scenes, maybe they should fix that in Flip Witch 2.) While you're scouring each area for all of the above, you'll also find gacha coins, which you can spend to unlock additional animations of npcs and enemies performing a variety of sexual acts. Talk about getting some bang for your buck! (What did you expect? You're reading a Flip Witch review.) Once you've drained an area dry of it's collectibles, the only thing left is an encounter with the local boss lady each with their own appealing design- combat and otherwise.

For every four sex scenes you unlock, (not including the game over screens) you can get permanent upgrades to damage, more healing charges, and boosts to the potency of said charges from your Flip Witch Sensei, Beatrix. And a couple sex scenes with her, too. This is the lynch pin of a positive feedback loop encompassing all of the collectibles listed above (aside from the gacha coins), that deeply encourages players to engage with every facet of it's design. I've played tons of metroidvanias and while Super Metroid is still my favorite, I can't say I've seen a single one that connected so many elements of it's design in such a rewarding fashion. I'd be remiss if I ended this review before saying that I loved the soundtrack, it's the cherry on top of a fantastic game. Flip Witch will forever be one of my favorites and I'm glad I took a chance on playing it. And if you made it this far, go buy it yourself!

(If anyone from Momo games is reading this, thank you for your hard work! Big shout outs to Momo games, Seedy Goblin, Moxie, Chippai Oni, CandyWitch, Mylkbear, and Momojams especially! It warms my heart to see you guys enter the industry with such a splash, and I look forward to seeing everything that comes next! -Your biggest fan!)

Great game, unfortunately very short. I liked it a lot and I always regret that there is no sequel to this game.

The long drive but cleaned up and made linear, very chill game

What a game. Impressive for its time, still incredible nowadays. Story and characters are great, as well as musics and setting, and the gameplay is super fun. The ending hits hard, I can't think of a better one.
Totally recommended.
