Dark Souls 3 was my first Souls experience, the first playthrough i didn't enjoy it much but i thought it was alright.

But the second time I played it I was mind blown at how stupid I was. This game became one of my favorites in the series and the DLC is topnotch. The environments were nothing crazy but generally they were just fine. but the boss quality was insane, sure there were some meh bosses like Curse Rotted Greatwood and the Deacons of the Deep, but there were some absolute gems like Gael, Champion Gundyr, Abyss Watchers, etc etc. My favorite thing about souls games is fighting the bosses and boy did this game not disappoint. I think objectively Dark Souls 1 is a better game but Dark Souls 3 is by far my favorite.

I'd say this game is also the best game for newcomers but honestly you should just start with Dark Souls 1.
