As someone who didn’t play the original, I can see why everyone calls this the “best” one in the series. I can see how much Resident Evil: Village is inspired by this game and also how much ideas from Village were clearly added to this game to improve it somewhat.

I still prefer the first two remakes, though. Something about their bigger emphasis on clever puzzle solving, whilst continually navigating and backtracking through an enormous haunted house style map for the large majority of the game just appeals to my tastes a bit better.
