Darksiders 3 is much more enjoyable to me than the previous 2 entries, and that's probably because the action games that are popular now are Souls-likes and not God of War (classic). This game still keeps identity traits from the older games, but keeps them translated into this "Souls-like" format. It quite frankly does stuff I've been wanting to see experimented with and I like what it did. You have a limited amount of weapons, and they have a fairly limited amount of moves to them, but they are identical to character action games (ex; X, X, X, X; X, Pause, X). I wish there were more combo moves to use, but hey, its fine enough. I wish it were a little more Character Action-y with animations and allowing me to use items like instantly, cause I get annoyed when I cant just instantly pop a estus, but whatever.

The game also does what I've been wanting Fromsoft to give me, and that's Metroidvania exploration powers. With each weapon you get, you also get a power to let you explore (Fire = Charge Jump, Ice = Walk on Water + Wall Jump, etc.). I wish the moves you got could be used in battle too, but the new weapons are sufficient for that.

I also just really enjoyed Fury's character, she is just cool. Good design, good voice action, good little arc. Bad-ass Battle Babe.

I do find that this game can get really fucking annoying with some puzzles, and some bosses. One particular boss (Gluttony) is probably one of the worst bosses I have ever fought. Just fucking annoying and the second phase is "Have him suck up explosive barrels" but somehow done worst than a fucking PS2 game from 14 fucking years ago.

Besides some annoying shit, its a dope Souls-Like/Character Action game.

Fun fact I learned from an interview with the lead designer: DS3 had 1/3 the budget of DS2. Good review!

I really had a blast with this and I agree Fury is great. Underrated gem.
