Resident Evil Village is just a real fun action horror game. Like plenty of others have already said, it's like RE4 but in first person, which I'm down for since that's one of the best games of all time! It also has an amazing straight-up horror section, too. The shit goes down and the ante gets upped so hard, that it was overwhelming at points. Didn't stop me from reveling in the madness though!
It's a good AAA video game-ass AAA video game, so that means satisfying combat, gorgeous visuals, impactful sound design, a bombastic story that at the very least is exciting to watch unfold, and a slew of mechanics and differently designed encounters that are smoothly paced out to make every moment as ~engaging~ as possible. And you know what? I was engaged that entire time, so much so, that I immediately went right back to it and beat it in Hardcore mode. And it was still hella fun the second time around!
