This is the best that Tekken has been in the last twenty years, since Tekken 5. This is the franchise I’ve been yearning to experience again with such ardent glee. This is a gamer’s game, and is one of the types that only comes around every so often.

Tekken 8 has a vice grip on you, as a player, and it will choke slam you to the wall with its radiance.

But for real, this game is fluid as all hell. It’s stylish beyond comparison, and it knows it. This is the aged silver fox that’s been around the block, and knows how to handle itself in today’s market.

If there’s any fighting game that’s going to keep the genre alive for another decade, it’s this one.

This game is quite a power fantasy experience that really shows how capable Remedy is at making a solid action gameplay loop. The tone of the game is oppressively brutal, and is soaked in a surrealistic dread. While the game lacked in a satisfying conclusion, and a compelling main character, Control still provides an ample amount of fun that’s wrapped around an extremely stylistic presentation.

It’s not a loop - it’s a spiral.

This game exceeded my expectations as someone who’s been patiently waiting since American Nightmare. As someone who doesn’t play horror games, this is the gold standard that any spooky games in the future should look towards.

This is going to be one of those games like Shadow of the Colossus, where I’m going to fondly look back at and revisit over the decades.
