I finally ended up finding a physical copy of this for cheap at a local store and so I got Dynasty Warriors brained again for quite a while, which seems to happen every several months or so.

I think this one has a reputation of being the best of the PS2 era DW games and I can totally see why. They got rid of pretty much everything that sucked about DW4, so no dueling(thank fucking christ) and the character-specific musou modes are also back. I like that everyone has a little ending cutscene at the end, kinda like Tekken.

If I want to be nitpicky, the only real complaint I have is that the music is not QUITE as good as 3 or 4? Don't get me wrong, it's still awesome I just think it goes from top ten all-timer to like somewhere in the top two hundred maybe. I just miss the dirty ass bass guitar that was all over the fourth game's soundtrack. Chi Bi also feels downgraded from the last two games, which sucks cause that's my favorite battle. I'm probably only saying that because Cry For Wind absolutely shits all over the music they use for it in this game.

Xingcai is best girl.
