More than a mere tech demo for the PS5 and the Dualsense controller, it's a big, warm hug of a game, a celebration of 25+ years of the PlayStation brand.

Sony has always relied on a huge roster of third-party developers, so I never felt that the PS ecosystem had the same kind of monolithic brand that Nintendo enjoys. But this game is just turbocharged nostalgia, filled with little cameos and references to so many great PS games. It offers a chance to think back on all the wonderful experiences that PlayStation has enabled.

Sure, it's "just" a quick little Mario clone. But Astro stands toe to toe (helmet to moustache?) with the mighty plumber himself, and is his equal in beauty, variety, and sheer joy.
