This might actually be one of my favorite Mario Kart games, at least as a solo experience.

Mario Kart Super Circuit is the third entry in the series, and one of the last games in the series using the more "slippery" back wheeled controls (that ended with DS). It might necessitate some getting used to, heck, it probably took me years, until recently, to finally feel like I am totally in control of my movements.

However, I think that once you master its controls, this is one of the best feeling games in the franchise, and the most satisfying to 100%, thanks to the GBA tracks probably having the most amount of shortcuts in the entire franchise, and the RNG rarely being a detrimental factor (you can outrun blue shells if you can keep up your max speed) since aside from getting targetted by Boos or second place spamming you with red shells, you rarely have your pace ruined from bad luck.

The ranking system for cups is definitely the best in the entire franchise, not being as easy and simple as "getting first place everytime" like in 7 and 8, but not being so punishing it feels like a miracle getting three stars like in DS and Wii. Getting star rank is fairly easy with enough knowledge of the controls and tracks, and the special title screen you get from getting at least 1 star in every GBA cup in every modes is a really lovely reward, probably the best title screen change in the series in my opinion.

This game is very special, but it's an amazing one in its own rights, that I always like coming back to, despite having to compete with 8 other titles.
