The amount of effort and love put into SoR Remake makes it more than worthy of being in this list despite not being an official game. There's so much content and so many different ways to play this game it's fucking insane, not to mention the shitload of SoR Maker mods with their own content. It's honestly my favorite beat 'em up of all time, and I don't see it being topped anytime soon.

Fuck the american release, japanese SoR3 is where it's at and you should definitely play it with the english translation patch. This game added a lot of great stuff to the combat mechanics introduced in the previous two and has a somewhat silly but entertaining plot. Yeah the music kinda sucks, which is a huge bummer for this series in particular, but I can deal with that.

A great game in its own right and one of the best retro revivals you'll find out there, but it took a handful of steps back from BKIII and I don't know why they made that decision. It still is a damn good beat 'em up, though, the new characters are a blast to play and Adam is finally playable again in an official SoR game besides the first one, it's about fucking time.

A huge improvement on the first game in every way, the special moves were a great addition, but it also draws a lot from the first game when it comes to bosses. SoR2 also has what's probably the most satisfying punch sound effect I've ever seen in any video game, it makes beating the shit out of the enemies so satisfying Axel became my favorite character because of his flurry of punches as a special move, great stuff.

Hasn't aged as well as the installments that came out afterwards. Combat is satisfying despite being basic as fuck and it's generally well-paced, the bosses are fucking bullshit though.

It's the third game in the series, except it got the Castlevania III treatment, because americans love to ruin your fun.
