i am going on record as a ff7r defender, ff7 is a game that is very difficult to remake because it still holds up extremely well and everyone involved in this knew that, i think the weird story changes and metacommentary on itself was kind of necessary to make it stand out
the idea of a remake where the original game's legacy is literally the villain of the story is fucking insane and so god damn cool and i dont know many other games that could get away with it
