this is probably the most 3 and a half stars game ive ever played, not even gonna write a whole review so ill just list pros and cons

PROS: story’s silly, i like a few moments in it, gameplay can be fun, pretty solid music and voice cast

CONS: it lacks mission variety and is very buggy, story is also way too short to justify it’s price tag ($70), thankfully its not too grindy but it still isn’t perfect

idk wait for a sale below $40 to try it out, hoping future seasons will just mitigate the issue of repetitiveness, its still fun but its an incomplete game strapped with a shitty business model because of possible crunch.

I have been waiting for this game since it was announced and in my opinion, it delivered despite it's shorter runtime, however, i'll get my negatives out of the way first.

some character moments do feel a little weaker than the first game, the podcast characters feel like they know too much than they should and create weird side plots that kinda don't go anywhere. the game while preforming much better now, was pretty buggy but not the point of crashing me, however the game is still not fully ironed out. a lack of ng+ and sky options can make the game feel incomplete, its definitely due to crunch, however even so, the fact they're gonna be updates is not really great I won't lie. collectibles also feel a bit, stiff in this game, most of it is just go after object and done, there's a lack of puzzles and the game mostly focuses on its combat which while much improved, can get a little stale by the 11th hour of doing it.

now, some positives, game is genuinely so fun to play through, both spider-men have gotten upgrades to their arsenal and traversal, being allowed a free dash, glide, jump while swinging or some extra abilities which clear the room up in no time. the spider-men also have different side-stories which correlate with their side characters, peter getting a dangling mystery relating to the cult of the flame and miles simply helping out his fellow students over in brooklyn visions, both very different in tone and having incredible moments for the two, be it the lighthearted friendly neighborhood-like tone of the miles missions or a web of spider-man comic straight out of the 80s for peter.
This also marks the second playable appearance of the black suit, sparring new brutal and viscous abilities along with it while not as over the top as Web of Shadows, it still delivers on making peter feel like a beast unleashing his rage.
its story is also one i deeply enjoy, letting itself still hold an adaptation which remains true to the characters and has some incredible weight to how every character is presented, both spider-men act their asses off and it is some of the best voicework i've seen the two have, really selling each line provided and creating something so heartfelt but fun.
overall, while it may not be for everyone, for me, it was certainly the game i was expecting to get and i can't wait for the future which this universe holds.

so, this game, i've been meaning to play it for a while and honestly, now that I did, i'm kinda conflicted on how I feel about it.

my positives first, the game and its dlc are both very fun to play through, genuinely some of the most fun i've had with an fps, allowing the player to be versatile and have many options with tackling its challenges. it's got some good moments here and there, its soundtrack rocks along with its in-game radio for allowing many options while roaming around in night city.

now gripes, the game despite being patched is still pretty buggy here and there, i've had a couple crashes from the most mundane options such as trying to dump an enemy in a box only for the game to crash twice. its story is also almost 14-18 hours and kinda weak in regards to how it'll handle random threads, characters will be introduced and simply have resolution in optional side-content rather than an actual stake in the plot, so it'll have all these characters with wonderfully fleshed out mini-plots, only for the game to brush it under the rug for you to MAYBE do it.

oh yeah, the dlc's fun in a gameplay standard, it's story while better than vanilla, is mostly fine but at the very least, the game will give you 2 different endings depending on the choices you made so that's pretty cool i guess
