Good game with a lot more to say that I expected. The actual experience of playing was pretty zen, most of the time. The only place it really falls short is the ending, but that's hardly enough to ruin it.

Easily one of my favourite games ever, and one I strongly feel that a lot of people slept on. It's an awesome premise, and exceedingly stylish setting that never gets old, a variety of deaths to solve and a story that definitely wasn't going where I thought.

Cute with a unique premise. The combat is touch simple but it's rather impressive how much they manage to do with it, helped by the fact that there are multiple weavers, all with their own unique style.

Such a fun game. Such a unique idea! There have been a couple of takes on the idea of doing a rhythm RPG, but none of them have really captured as perfect a system as this game did. It's really good. Just unfortunate that it doesn't have more songs.

I was never really into VNs, but this game honestly changed that for me. It's so cute and the characters are great. I'm just not a big fan of the typical otome archetypes for love interests, they're always so melodramatic and ridiculous. This game has actual real people in it, and it's awesome.

I liked this one. I know a lot of others didn't, but it's basically just more BL2, and BL2 was great, so I'm fine with that. And I really liked the new classes.

2015

Bit shallow, for an MMO, but even so, pretty neat idea and the concept of being able to summon your house to you is quite inspired.

I only ever play Borderlands games with other people. The multiplayer balance in this game is embarrassingly bad. Despite this, if the game wasn't at least somewhat entertaining, I probably wouldn't have gotten as far into it as I did. But still, it's just not as good as it should be. BL2 is still by far the better title.

It was fun, a fine time, but I was one of the unfortunate souls who was suckered into believing that the game would actually let you play a non-combat run. So when I built into all-stealth and all-social, I got screwed when I was forced into various lethal fights later on.

This game is awesome. The experience of learning more and more about the secrets of this world with each playthrough is great. I've finished the game in the sense that I ascended, and then finished a follow-up apostate run (which might be considered something of a new game plus).

It's a bit stressful, however - the difficulty is high and the game can be somewhat unforgiving. I love it anyway, but I expect that I'll love the more relaxed coming title, Book of Hours, even more.

Be aware that my score is based on a previous version of the game, where many of the problems I had seem to have been dealt with by new mechanics added in patches since I last played.

I honestly can't believe how much content is in this game. It's amazing. There is SO much to do. Everything is deeper and more compelling than it needs to be - while most games in the genre get away with straight-forward gift-giving as basically the only way to make friends, this game allows you to schedule "dates" to hang out with your friends or romantic interest. While most games in the genre either don't include combat or include fairly straight-forward combat with limited mechanics, this one has something considerably more active than most, with mechanics that rival other indie games that are considerably more combat-focused. And while a game like this could get away with basically no world-building at all, this one has a long history, an apocalypse, and religious schisms. It's just always more than it needs to be, and it's great.

Okay but like... this game is alone worth getting a VR headset.

It's a fun time with plenty of positives - I particularly like the look of the world and the unusually wide variety of weapons. The combat feels pretty nice, if a bit clunky sometimes. The story is a very typical high-fantasy hero-saves-the-world type of tale, with a few fun and unique twists on the concept.

On the other hand, the pacing can drag in places, and, honestly, the fantasy genre is pretty dense, so a game has to stand out a lot to really do well, and this one doesn't quite make it. Still, it's definitely worth checking out if you're a big fan of the genre.

It was a revelation when it came out, I'd never played anything like it. But the experience it created is now a little more normal, and this game shows its age. Plus you can really tell that they pasted these ideas onto a game that was originally meant to be something else. BL2 is the definitive borderlands game - just play that one.
