I play this with my friends sometimes it's kind of stupid but a decent medium to hang out in if you don't want to talk about anything pertaining to outside the game world.

dragon warrior 4 five stars. i thought the way it played with so many of the tropes it helped to invent was hilarious especially in the section of torneko and his babe wife where i was forced to sell goods for a good half hour. despite the in-jokes and the twists it functions perfectly well as a boys adventure work. obviously my main party through chapter 5 was hero tomboy princess and magical exotic sisters which quickly became one of my favorite rpg harems even with the sisters' shit gameplay. the beginning of chapter 5 (when the music cuts out), and the ending of the game, both really moved me.

played the main story with my little brother. the gameplay by itself is kind of fun but every other element actively works against that, bringing some absolutely nonsensical profundity in the background and taking place in some obnoxiously colorless environments aiming for realism over life, it's dumb. it's a little harder more challenging to the brain than kirby's epic yarn but it possesses none of the soul and color (literally) that makes that game utterly charming.

its really fun and the climaxes and torture attacks are great especially the one where you choke the girldemons on a horse with a leash never ever got bored of that move. and i like the music. luka walking into every scene with mcu style quips is so annoying though.

overall i quite enjoyed it i'll probably replay someday with the cheerleader outfit or something.

this plays like babys first rpgmaker game but to its credit it is sincere and at least halfway imagined. perfect baseline for the medium. i like the together forever ending.
