Couldn't get past the first stage after, I don't know, about 20 attempts? I guess this is my "I'm too old for this shit" moment. I also don't have enough room in my desk to make the bizarre reload anywhere near reliable with the way I like to hold my mouse. Anyway, I'm sure it eventually makes a lot of very good points about corporations and capitalism that teenage me would have found very enlightening.

I put 20-ish hours into this game and was once a part its cult, but every time I tried to go back to unlock secret levels and difficulty modes I found I liked it less and less.

To your first sentence: I mean that's the problem with the game. There are loads of weapons and movement options you didn't get to unlock, but the game is very punishing in precisely the ways that discourage you from using all any but a handful of potential loadouts, and strongly encourage the same boring 'safe' tactics in virtually every situation. The level of 'emergent gameplay' is vastly overstated because the levels are basically static and the AI is somehow worse than every 90s/early 00s 'immersive sim' I've played.

If you got as far as unlocking the grappling hook (I forget what the game dresses it up as) and the double jump (same) and swung around the levels a bit, you'd have seen about everything the game has to offer.

I should write a review.

@Xantha_Page I only "unlocked" cannibalism which as it turns out was just another way to lose
