God of War Ragnarok is disappointing. While it does maintain a generally great story and engaging combat system, the narrative experience comes nowhere close to the 4th game, and feels like a step back. The story is all over the place, and there are several different weak subplots and characters that are never given the proper time to be fleshed out. However, when there are good story moments, they really hit. This one needed more time in the oven, or even needed to be stretched out into two games, considering the scope.
