It has a whole questline with a story, rewards, and skills. Plus nice zones to fish in.

I spent hours on the tropical island talking with randos and fishing for whale sharks...good times.

Much like FF14, good way to take in the atmosphere of all the crazy fantastical zones of the game. Especially neat with how expansive and diverse the game world is; there are so many different nooks and crannies within to enjoy fishing.

Very realistic fishing experience you actually rotate the analog stick to reel in. Beautiful scenery.
