i saw someone post this review on twitter so i want to elaborate on it: I have actually been playing IRL with my friends and i think that in real life, when you are playing with people not trying to one-turn kill you, it is such a fucking awesome card game. it's a similar problem Pokemon has too where everyone is running the best meta deck designed to own you as quickly as possible. I think Master Duel is a hard way to encourage new players because everyone who plays online is a tryhard, but everyone at your local card shop you can play with is much more enthusiastic to give you a good experience dueling, so do that instead.
