this game just hits that right and rare combination of cute characters and a sweet message, whilst maintaining witty dialogue and unique quest lines that don't feel overused. the only thing that fell slightly flat for me at the end was that the resolution to the story felt rushed, after such a well developed main character. but then again, i played the entire game in one day, so maybe i just didn't give it the time it deserved. also, it has the option to play in pixel graphics which i didnt know until the end, so maybe that replay will hit diff.
this is my first game i completed on my new Steam Deck and honestly? this is the content i'm looking for. the storytelling was hilarious and immersive, if completely nuts at times, and the characters were weirdly well fleshed-out for a free one hour game. also colonel sanders is hot, who knew? the only reason i can't give it higher is because i didn't get the ending i wanted. maybe on my next playthrough

so beautiful, so moving, so desperately sad. this game was so well written and designed. it was also basically free therapy. even without relating directing to the main story/character, there were moments where it surfaced some really pushed down thoughts and feelings for me. the themes of loss and then found family in particular.
the main reason this isn't quite a top game for me is because I don't think I could bring myself to play it again; I can't go through that a 2nd time.
also, the soundtrack is phenomenal.
