Oh boy, I have mixed feelings about this game... Overall, I'm really mixed. Ok, what did I like: the story, the characters, the charm. What I didn't like: the pacing, the open world and mini games (and the guilt I feel for not engaging in them), the characters some of the time... the story some of the time... the way everything moved so slowly and squishily. I play this game and I just wish it had a been a 20 hour linear game. I don't feel it was served by all the side-questing and open world-ing. Honestly, if it weren't for the Minnmax Deepest Dive, I don't think I would have played this game.

Really enjoyed it. Yuffy is quite the silly character. I'm excited to see how she plays off of the rest of the crew. Definitely glad I beat it just in time for FF7 Rebirth!

Interpretative summary: Tommy is a down and out cab driver who happens to get involved with a mafia family. He goes from not wanting to be involved, to errand boy, to high up in the family. Along the way he makes some good friends, finds a wife, and starts a family. Then he wants out. Classic mafia story from here. But the bonds between Tom, Sam, and Paulie were good and the betrayal at the end was a gut punch. Tom getting killed at the end was no surprise, but still well done.

Liked: the family bonds and character development. Tommy's moral struggles, but that he didn't struggle too much.

Didn't like: the gameplay was super meh. Way too much driving around. Did not need to be an open world game. Gunplay and stealth sections also not great. It feels like the game was meant to be played on the harder difficulties, but I didn't want to do that.
