I don't love this game, but I do think it's more than the sum of its parts. This game has so many problems -- the pacing is awful and severely needs editing, what it's trying to say is somehow both ridiculously obvious -- that revenge is bad -- while also very muddled in its ideology and execution, and much more. Despite this, like the original Last of Us, I think this game ends so, so well, and it's exploration of trauma and loss is ambitious, and I wish the game hit these notes more than its focus on revenge. The visuals and gameplay are also fantastic -- though, I enjoyed the human encounters far more than the zombie encounters.
