Surprised by the number of people who think of this game as predatory or morally bankrupt in some way. It's simple - a game where you just WASD around, where every weapon is a passive effect, and the game never really attempts to disguise the fact that unlocking more things just changes the components of the light show.

You don't have to enjoy the game (or even respect it, really), but there's definitely room for stuff like this to exist in the landscape without it degrading the medium or whatever the concern might be. There's still a game here, there's still concern for how systems interact with each other and you can still come up with unique strategies using the handful of tools you're given. It's not artistically ambitious, but I don't think it has to be. The existence of fine dining does not render fast food obsolete.

Yeah people are being super weird about this game

I played it last year briefly and enjoyed it, like didn't even get addicted since I think my steam says only like 10 hours. Then I found out some people just think this game is like the plague and devouring every food supply on the planet, felt familiar to people dumping on musou games or something.

i think the recent incident with GoufyGoggs getting harassed on yt from fans for critiquing the game def illustrates that fandom itself can get extremely toxic, but in a vacuum i agree, i don't think the game is particularly pernicious outside of looking boring to me personally

Didn't know about the incident with GoufyGoggs, appreciate the heads-up from Pangburn (even if that wasn't the intent of the comment). Not really pleased by how this review looks in light of that (was mainly responding to other reviews listed here by names I didn't recognize) but I had seen her video a while ago and quite liked it even though I didn't really agree with the overall sentiment.

I guess I'll attach this as well, since after watching the related videos I feel compelled to say as much:
If there's any doubt for anyone reading this, I'm not particularly interested in likes/comments from anyone who wants me to be on Asmongold's "side" in the matter. It's hardly a mystery why a smaller creator might not want to interact with a legion of enraged twitch chat goblins rolling up and filling their comments with hate speech, and any professional streamer that is too stupid to understand that does not deserve the job they have. I'd say more, but Asmongold does not deserve more of my time, nor does he deserve any more of yours.

Haven't played the game myself but some of these negative reviews look absolutely INSANE, and the only reason I'm not more shocked is because I've seen this exact same combination of warped moralist logic as a support for gratuitously hostile nonconformism before, in other, completely unrelated fields.
