niantic is also greedy but this game is still so fun i dont care

realistically not great but i have a lot of nostalgia for playing the original forever ago. good enough for me to have bought the complete release

Started playing this and have less time in it than I would normally like for a review on this site, but I really was impressed by the launch! I am slightly biased, because I came from MHY's sister game Genshin Impact already a fan of their games, but I also tried Honkai Impact 3rd a while ago because of Genshin and wasn't impressed.

This game is the culmination of what I think both Honkai and Genshin do well, but with the apparentness that Honkai is the series MHY loves the most. They definitely leaned harder into the time sink/grind aspect of Genshin that isn't my favorite, but because the game is so new I'm not sure if it will end up much worse of any better. In HI3, the game was more of a beat 'em up style game with, what felt like to me, very little emphasis on strategy. The story was very good, and the characters had so much love in them. In genshin, there is a lot more emphasis on strategy and team building, and I really like the blend of the two in this turn-based RPGish style. While I will always have a gripe with gacha systems in games, I am trying to refrain from passing judgement since it's so early in the game's life cycle, but it seems to be leaning heavily to the genshin style which... I don't feel positive about at all. Though I don't really have much experience with HI3 like I said before.

Anyways, just kinda dumping my thoughts after getting past all the tutorials and completing some of their dungeons & my fair few of fights. Really love the character design and the humor is actually funny. When I saw the Honkai Star Rail booth at anime expo last year, I didn't expect to ever play it or even enjoy it, so hopefully I will continue to enjoy my experience with it in the future!

genuinely fun to uncover everything in this game, and the lore is good enough to make me forget that that core nighttime gameplay loop is boring as hell. everything else is really cool. i wish it ended here.

everything about this game is just so good i dont care about anything else

night 4 makes me violent but overall pretty good. if you really like the fnaf series prior to this, you will love sister location. the upgrade in storytelling, graphics, and atmosphere will feel magical. if you dont really like fnaf prior to this, your opinion isn't going to change.

I was the dojo master and no one can ever take that away from me

the fact that this game stopped being serviced makes me wanna die.

similar to fnaf 3, this game has so much potential just to trip at the finish line. much scarier than fnaf 3, but only because of the forced nature of the jumpscares. since you need to play this shit with cranked up speakers, you'll jump at the loud noise. thankfully, the designs of the nightmares are insanely cool, and this installment is the one that features most of the foundation for its extensive and convoluted lore that we are still fucking around with to date. better than fnaf 3, but still kinda weak.

exposed to this game because of the clearly superior version of it by mangokiwii, creator of "Dangan Ronpa: Minecraft" on wattpad back when I was a child. its pretty ok

i wish someone took fnaf away from scott before this game solely because of how hard this man fumbled the most sick villain. springtrap is so unbearably cool as a character, with the twisted loading screens habitating my mind years later, but was given the lamest gameplay loop and jumpscares known to man. there is no fear of the unknown here, just anger at the shitty camera system that does nothing and the boringness of each night. this game's real shine comes from the lore and special cutscenes accessible each night, but that barely matters when you can't enjoy the actual night progression itself. it tries it's best

i hope no one ever unearths the animations i made as a child

atmosphere is significantly worse, but the designs of the animatronics hit that uncanny valley scott cawthon has always looked for and continues to aim for now. gameplay loop is too rinse and repeat but unfortunately i like that. good installment. jumpscares still suck though
