WOW what an experience this was. i completed this several years back and still think about it regularly.

i adore the sprite animations a lot !! i really couldnt guess where the story was going at all. really really engaging. i love the characters a lot. junpei is so fucking funny.

tried very hard not to cry.

the final puzzle was... sorta disappointing on steam, but i get it. they cant really do what they did with the original for it. it didnt hamper my enjoyment of it as a whole at all however. you gotta experience this game.

i didnt hate everything about this game. i did have a lot of fun mixing and matching my team until i put something together that felt really nice to me. i didnt really care about like.. the best meta builds or whatever, i just picked characters i liked and went from there. i loved running all over the map, grabbing all the waypoints i could at once on foot, or climbing up as high as i could and then jumping down and gliding and seeing where i could find from there. the sense of exploration was genuinely really fun, and id spend hours just doing that alone.

it was really fun felling big bosses with my friends ! but WOW grinding for artefacts fucking SUCKSSSSSSSs. oh my god it sucks so bad. grinding to get the things you need to level your characters is a slog if you dont want to play with other people, especially if its because you cant get decent artefacts to begin with. this was by far the most frustrating part for me personally. i really didnt like that how good my character performed depended on getting lucky enough to get somethign at least useable out of a domain, which the good majority of the time, you probably wont be !!

and then theres the obvious glaring issue: the gacha hell. oh. my god. in theory the idea of dupe pulls going towards making your character stronger is like.. okay. but it feels so damn predatory in the way its executed. i really really hate everything about it.

the story is.... ok. it has moments where it feels interesting, and then other times it is an absolute slog that i wish would end so i could go back to gameplay. the characters are fine, if overdesigned as all hell. i dunno.

ultimately i realized the parts i really liked about this were things i could experience playing BOTW, lmfao. every so often id come back and do my dailies and leave, but even that got boring after a while. id had some really cute interactions with people when i did play multiplayer, some really fun times here and there, but ultimately i just cant really stand the game anymore. a shame. i feel like without the super predatory gacha shit, it could be Okay.

an ABSOLUTE BLAST. the controls feel real nice, and the different modes are fun to play around with.

its sooooo damn satisfying doing a big spiralling loop around the track while jamming to that super solid soundtrack.

this was one of the first games id grabbed on quest, while i was still getting my vr legs so to speak. i was pleasantly surprised how this game did not make me motion sick at all !
