i love a farming sim so there really wasn't a chance of disliking stardew lol. i added a taxes/bills mod because i hate having fun <3

the art style is super cute & villagers are a bit flat but it's okay bc i love them. it doesn't feel like you're racing the clock to accomplish daily tasks and yet you're not left with a bunch of time to kill either (at least until endgame, but that's what the new content is for. also the taxes mod) i usually keep a playthrough going through year 5 without getting bored, and the different maps and potential playstyles & goals make replayability pretty good. for a while i was playing modded on pc + vanilla on switch and didn't lose much enjoyment
multiplayer is a big plus for avoiding burnout. stardew was a good mp candidate and it's hard to tell it wasn't always there

honestly my main criticisms are the lack of dimension in the npcs and poor scaling; its common to struggle to make ends meet in year 1 only to barely ever see a dent in your wallet year 2 and on. the latter can be avoided, but it would be nice if you weren't coasting through the farming aspects of a farming sim for most of the game.

i have over 1000 hours in this game rn. even though i am not actively playing i will always return to her like a wandering cowboy or whatever
