This is the second Metroid game I've completed so far and I didn't really enjoy playing this one. I didn't like how cryptic everything was, and I really disliked how much knock-back and damage the enemies did, especially for the final boss which was terrible. I thought the upgrades you get were alright and I liked exploring the map, excluding the cryptic stuff.
