The first third or so of Unreal is pretty strong. It feels a bit like a continuation of the industrial gothic vibe of Quake 1 mixed with splashes of Roger Dean-style alien psychedelia. The original Unreal Engine still holds up shockingly well.

I just wish it played better. Many weapons are straight-up not fun to use and especially later on, the combat encounters become pretty weak. More of this playthrough was meandering and exploring the same places, trying to find a way out, than I'd care to admit.

Frustrating at times, but such a chill and refreshing take on the genre.
