Bio
So many backlogged games, almost no time to play them :/

Love RPG's and card/boardgames. StrategyRPG's of the turnbased kind are my favorite genre. I appreciate good VN's as well!

Mostly into retro games (i never was into hype culture, and i'm not a graphics person). Once in a while i play recent stuff, and i MMO here and there (mostly to do stuff with friends).
Always looking for good worldbuilding i can put my teeth into.

Really impressive what they stuck together in a gameboy cardridge. It felt just as good as ALTP, and the story felt even better because the ending had such an unique feeling to it, didn't expect it would give me the emotions i felt. Like ALTP it wasn't easy to figure out what to do sometimes, but that's more a me and a 2024 patience thing (these days it's too tempting to quickly grab a guide) than something i blame the game for.

I gave this a chance even though it's a gacha because i love turn based RPG"s and i heard positive things. I have to admit that i liked the art and characters more than i thought i would. There is actually somewhat of an entertaining storyline, something i wouldn't have guessed with the 'gacha' stamp on it (the Fire Emblem Heroes story i couldn't get in for example). It seems for the story mode you don't even really need to play with gacha elements, i didn't spent a dime and i can get through it fine, with some fair challenges and boss fights that i could overcome with what i had. If you want an adventurelike JRPG story with some sci-fi elements and visiting different planets, and don't want to actively engage with every mode (some stuff can get really difficult) , or want every character, it's actually a recommend (never guessed i would come to that conclusion).

i don't like that there are no metal or darkness energy (Scizor had grass attacks), and having played with the real cards when they came out (for example making baby pokemon completely worthless, borifying or removing some pokemon powers, changing pokemon powers into old powers from the first gen like neo slowking) i would have preferred them without balance tweaks. A lot of changes had me scratch my head, because they made those cards less interesting to play with. Some of my favorite combo cards are a far cry from the original versions. But i take any chance to play with jhoto cards in some form. I appreciate how it has a lot more sets then i envisioned, that must have taken a lot of time to program.

Difficulty was almost nonexistent. My Thyplosion starterdeck with fire and psychic wreaked havoc on everything without changing much, especially when i got the fire psychic shining mewtwo. But the original game wasn't that hard either. Some weird AI decisions (bugs?)
