It does not feel like I am playing a game when I run this on my switch and press the buttons. The graphics and speed of the game are so janky that I literally never want to touch it again once I finally finish it. The exploration feels hollow, and I do not particularly enjoy the new emphasis on rotating your party because I get much less attached to them that way. I don’t even use the new camping mechanics because they tie into exploring, which is my least favorite part of the game, and actually playing the game outside of completing the main story, which is not something I ever wish to do.

The new Pokémon are fine, but very few are memorable. The story is fine so far, though I don’t think it can top Gen 5 or 7. It’s not enough to save the game for me because it does not motivate me to keep playing. The only reason I want to finish this game is because I’ve never DNF’ed a Pokémon main series entry before.
