Of course, it's nowhere near Shogun 2, but this game had its own charm

This was one of the few attempts to make a total war clone, and it wasn't too bad at all. Sadly, no one does that kind of thing now. CA really needs to have some competitors today more than ever.

I played this game as a kid back in the late 00s and what I enjoyed the most was that menu, where you need to choose the start year and your nation on the global map. This was basically something like an interactive "the history of something every year/timelapse"-type video from YT. Apart from that, the actual gameplay wasn't that fun for me though. Especially after the total war games.
