The direction the Paper Mario franchise should have kept heading in.

Lost the magic of 3 and traded it for better graphics.

A shell of what it should have been. Huge disappointment.

It did manage to recapture some of the spark that had been lost in Halo 4+5 but matching up to Reach and earlier was always going to be a monumental task.

There was a lot of potential here for a better game than 4, and it is better just not as much as it should be. It’s tough to live in the shadow of 3, but 5 like 4 manages to waste another great villain performance on a pretty mid game otherwise.

Holds a special place in my heart, my first JRPG exposure. <3

This was peak pokemon, I grew up starting with Gen III so this isn’t my childhood nostalgia speaking. This is objectively where Pokemon peaked, there were many good games after but Gen IV is beautifully crafted. Moving to the Nintendo DS was a godsend for Pokemon.

A classic Pokemon game set in Kanto where Pikachu follows you around outside of the pokeball, and nobody talks about it anymore. Let it sink in for a moment just how crazy that is knowing what we know now about the franchise now.

Credit for taking a huge risk here, just didn’t pan out totally well. The different story branches was cool though.
