really dope, i am now 100% sure that games that are hard as balls (anticipating "erm actually its not hard its punishing") like this i am totally cool with if respawn is near instant and the music is really good and the story keeps me invested. celeste is no longer an outlier in my collection
Somehow I found the game to be really easy on controller. I remember suffering like hell the first time i played this on a mouse and keyboard, back in 2019. I lost count of how many times I had to replay the final boss. Oh my god the minecart section...
Then a few years later I tried my hand on it with a controller this time and...it was a breeze to go through? Most times I died was because I kept trying to do cool shit. There was maybe two or three stages that really frustrated me, the stealth sections still sucked, but the final boss was way easier than I remember and somehow I got through the minecart part in two or three tries.
But yeah, the instant respawn really set those games apart. I usually dislike hard platformers but Celeste felt so dynamic it's impossible to dislike.
