A competent, if not repetitive adventure that leaves me wanting more after the great experience that was Yakuza: Like a Dragon (Yakuza 7). Being a spinoff of the main Yakuza series, characters often resemble those from those titles albeit with some occasional spins that fans would likely get enjoyment out of. Combat is standard action fare, with a few options for stances that unfortunately weren't enough to keep me interested. Ultimately, I'm sure I could have pressed on and finished the title but I wasn't quite having enough fun to justify doing so.

A classic among GameCube fans, this randomly dropped after a Nintendo Direct presentation and surprisingly became arguably one of the best looking games on the system. First person combat and a mysterious planet to explore make this a solid adventure that fans of the genre will undoubtedly enjoy. Upgrading Samus during her travels and ultimately becoming an alien-ravaging bounty hunter is what Metroid is all about, and Prime has this in spades while delivering a memorable gaming experience.

Solid entry into the Persona series. With the lack of a "definitive" version of Persona 3, this compromises some features (namely world traversal and physical interactions with characters outside of Tartarus) and provides others not found in other versions. A great cast of characters combined with a timeless combat system (with some flaws that were improved upon in the follow-ups) make it a necessary play for any JRPG fan.

Outside of FF7 Remake, my first entry in the Final Fantasy series. Solid RPG with some disappointing performance issues and a bevy of (relatively uninteresting) sidequests and a lackluster reward system to boot. Interesting story and spectacle make it a great title for PS5 owners.
