Weird how every character is somehow literally me

Heather Flowers clawed this game into existence out of the ether and I thank her for it. The combat sections are kinda janky but that's not the point, the point is that these poor children are having to drag themselves across the desert and they have no one but each other and they're gonna SURVIVE this cruel world no matter what!

Extreme Meatpunks is a complicated game. It’s not complicated to play, though, as it combines visual novel passages with dodge n’ click, top-down brawling. That brawling is not exactly a strong point, although it’s occasionally oddly satisfying. Pulling of a dodge on with its… dodgy controls and then knocking a mech piloted by a fascist off a cliff makes for a solid moment. Similarly, the dialogue see-saws back and forth in tone and topic. Ultimately, I think those are nitpicks. The game as a whole is wild, fun, earnest, and very angry. It imagines an alternate reality, not only in-game but in terms of what games might be. I’ll be thinking about it for a while.

Finally, a game with representation for me, a skeleton inside of a worn out meat suit.

Messy gay disasters on a road-trip to nowhere. The combat can be a pain but when the queer body politics hit, they hit like a motherfucker.
