GOD this and Scud Race NEED more recognition. Fantastic music and tracks, although nothing will ever trump R4.

heart of hearts is one of the songs ever

I dunno if this has something to do with it being an arcade game, but the handling is leagues better than the first two. It's still not great, mainly because it's far from realistic, but it's at least responsive. The collision is still terrible though. Hitting something is like playing pinball.

The visuals continue the series' tradition of being amazing, but this time the music is too.

I almost liked this game, but then I realized I can't win a single race. Somehow at the very start all opponents leave me behind. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. But then just as I start catching up with them the timer runs out. Timers in racing games are just a terrible idea altogether. This game reminds me of Outrun 2006, but at least that game was way more forgiving. This one is just impossible.

Also, it only has 4 tracks and seemingly one car (unless I just couldn't figure out how to select another. But in my defence, I have the Japanese version of the game, and the configs in MAME are needlessly confusing). Which really means I'm not missing out on much.

godtier music and the best among arcade ones. why didn't they ported it to the home consoles?

the best one out of the arcade entries, pretty much an expanded version of 1 and 2 but man the music cums so hard dude, also it has a funny glitch where you can get past the max speed limit in the game and break it

arcade ridge racer, but with more stuff and an AMAZING soundtrack. Shame that it's completely locked away in the arcades unless you have a ton of money to blow on the arcade1up version. Emulates decently on MAME tho so if you wanna play it id say see if you can get it runnin on there first off. Honestly this game might have one of the best soundtracks in the ridge racer series, and that's saying something, so even if you can't play the game, at least listen to the OST.
