The Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury game features the same great co-op gameplay, creative levels and power-ups as the original game, but also so much more.

3D World - Incredibly inventive. Love the expansion of 3D Land's experiment on the 3DS. Love the small QoL updates like the faster speed (which can sometimes fight against the original design). Insanely dense and full package. However, genuinely 100% fuck that final bonus level.
Bowser's Fury - A wonderful experiment. I expected this to be a 2-3 hour experience, but this is a pretty full 8 hour game. I love the laid back feeling to this game combined with that uneasy feeling of whenever Bowser spawns to interrupt the relaxing vibes. Honestly, Mario feels best with this almost puzzle box-esque level design. Basically climbing a tower/mountain as stylistically as possible. Really gives the cat/tanooki suits a proper use beyond a safety net in the base game. More experiments like this pls. I had a very lovely time.
possibly the only one of Nintendo's many full price last gen switch ports that actually feels justified. the changes to the base games' speed and movement are VERY welcome for me and made running through as fast as possible and dying like a jackass as Toad super fun, tho i do wish they would've added a bonus character or something to the base campaign. Bowser's Fury is fuckin sick as hell. it was so good that i 100%'d it entirely in one sitting. design wise, it's a lot more akin to Odyssey than 3D World - but the game it reminded me most of was Banjo Kazooie and i loved it. overall, there's still issues with the base game and its camera, content, etc. but i don't feel like a dumbass for buying this in the same way i totally would have if i bought the full price version of a wii game from a decade ago, which i will never do.
