Another QTE FMV game with a time traveling gimmick. Each time period is only a few scenes long, and the anime style works well here just like with Dragon's Lair.

I should mark this lower as I didn't have that much fun playing it, but I can't deny that it's charming at least. Ignoring the gameplay element it's a fun little Sci-Fi OVA by Toei. Not something I would ever play again but I'm glad I did this once at least.

Neat lil FMV game. Theres a reason why this kind of genre died out even in the 80's because its all style and zero substance, and basically works to stretch a 20 minute animation over the course of several hours as u mess things up. However, if you are a fan of the animation and know what ur gettin urself into this is as good a game in the genre as any. deffo a cautious rec for anyone interested, since its likely that if you are even interested in these kinds of games u've likely played this already

Time Gal is a weird game to me because on one hand it's pretty bad as it's very trial and error and seems to not give you much reaction time. Maybe there's input delay on an emulator but I felt like half the time I lost because I was a split second off. This game can get pretty brutal too if you play on Hard as not even the glowing lights on the UI will warn you.

The animation has been downgraded a lot to work on the Sega CD, it's not even full screen. What's weird is the US version has footage of the original in the intro but not the Japanese version. I can only assume maybe the intro was used in advertisements? I can't really say as I haven't checked.

Honestly I kind of like the idea of being in many different time locations as nothing seems too dull for what the story is going on in each place. It helps they also are pretty fast to get through. The game is also pretty short but it's intentional. Honestly it kind of grew on me as I started to know the inputs. My only real gripe is on Hard the perspective of some things makes it hard to tell what direction I need to push.

This game was brought over to the US thanks to renovation and honestly it's only really worth playing if you want to actually read the time stop options. The voice acting is a lot worse and idk if the emulator is to blame but there seems to be audio delay. There was no audio delay in the Japanese version. They also removed a scene where if you wait 10 minutes at the end of the credits on hard mode without getting a game over you'll get to see her naked! Now I'm just wondering if anyone in Japan got horny for her. They also changed the passwords here to make them harder to write them because the Japanese one had cool passwords like STARWARS

Time Gal is an interesting FMV game but this port is probably not worth going back to. Oddly it's rarely been ported, it was on 32 bit consoles along with Ninja Hayate but I've heard it's ruined by input lag. If you can somehow play the Arcade original (IDK how) then go ahead and play it. Time Gal has some charm but it's nothing that'll keep you coming back. At least Reika is cute and has amazing expressions.
