The best Tetris game, I love everything about it. The only Tetris game I've played enough to get a score of over 1,000,000 in marathon mode, and that's before the other game modes. No reason to play the others.

It's Tetris but with a bunch of Nintendo character running around, I love it.
Really good Tetris, with a delicious Nintendo theme. This WOULD be the BEST all-round version of Tetris, BUT it does not track your record time for clearing 200 rows. Beating your score is more about getting back-to-back Tetris, whereas the real pride of Tetris improvement comes from being able to blitz lines like a coke-fiend.
Standard Tetris also leans way too much into Super Mario as well. Believe first 100 lines are all played with a Mario theme, meaning the "iconic" music gets a tad repetitive. Whereas Zelda and Metroid get one track, they come and go way too quick. Would also have been nice to have Zelda II's Temple theme in there.
The other modes are a good distraction: "Hey, what else can we do with Tetrominos that isn't Tetris?"
But turns out Tetris is still the best thing to do with Tetrominos.
The best handheld Tetris, but not the best puzzle game on DS.

A really great and creative version of tetris! Would've really benefited from a campaign but is cozy and great with all its creative modes.
ALWAYS entertaining. ALWAYS. I didn't get deep into the other modes apart from the basic one, but if you own this game in 2022 means you are emulating it. So for a "free" game it is more than incredible

I’m gonna sound crazy for giving this such a high score since it’s just Tetris, but it’s easily the best game in the series. There’s so much more in the game than just the marathon mode. My favorite side mode is the puzzle one since not only is it super fun, addicting, and difficult, but there’s also like 300 levels of it. This game has an insane amount of content for just a Tetris game. Not to mention, the DS is the perfect system for a Tetris game.
Tetris as a whole is one of the greatest video games out there, but not every tetris game is created equally. Tetris DS felt like a turning point for the franchise forr me, where we left the Classic Tetris era started by the original gameboy release, and entered into what can now be considered the Modern Tetris Era.
Basically what Im saying is is that Puyo Puyo Tetris' Tetris mode wouldnt be as fun as it is without the QoL improvements brought to us by Tetris DS
