This game is so strange and interesting and unique! It's in a weird space between modern and classic Tetris where SRS and T-Spins are included, but no bonus for a perfect clear, among other future additions. The gameplay is extremely solid and everything I want out of modern Tetris, and it even had online support, which is amazing. This would have been the BEST to have back then. Not to mention the other modes it has, all of which are super interesting and unique in their own right, especially Push, that's my favourite one, it's CRAZY how interesting it is!
Forgot to log this somehow - there's no real "completing" Tetris DS as its just a compliation of various modes, but I felt pretty proud of clearing 200 Lines in Marathon mode on my first attempt either way.
A fun and relatively well made version of Tetris, but admittedly does not feel as incredible now as it did for its time. There's something to be said for the charm the NES nostalgia provides for the theming, but if it doesn't work for you, Tetris Effect (and Apotris) tend to be much better versions of Tetris in my opinion.

I appreciate how many different modes this game has other than just basic tetris, and even that has a thick Nintendo coat of paint with many different Nintendo properies plastered over everything. Having this many modes means there's a lot to mess around with and a lot to try out, however most of the modes aren't winners so once you've tried everything you're basically just left with regular ass Tetris which is honestly perfectly fine all things considered.
happily sits alongside the best versions of tetris. there are so many fun modes to play on top of the standard game of tetris here, with my particular favourites being mission mode and touch mode. they offer brilliant alternatives to the tetris formula. i played the hell out of puzzle mode when i was younger and didn't really understand tetris enough to enjoy the arcade modes, too.
