A solid character action game that will definitely scratch the itch if you're a fan of the genre and looking for something new. It has solid mechanics, and a good amount of content for a small title. Multiple difficulties, two characters with their own distinct movesets, a bloody palace-esque mode, a boss rush, and even a bonus boss. The story is nothing amazing but I found the characters bouncing off of each other fun. A good game.

A pretty good character action game

This game should not demand as much computer power as it does given a lot of its areas are empty corridors. I could hardly keep up a framerate. My PC was actually below the minimum when I played this game so if I ever upgrade my computer I'll give it another shot. Doesn't save that assistant character from being incredibly annoying and the majority of the game being formulaic, even if lightheartedly so. The bosses at least decieve you in that while they are similar the fights are all quite different...but they dissolve with a similar approach so it's a touch moot.

Thankfully there's a second campaign I didn't do, so if I do get that computer upgrade I'll give this game a second look.

A perfectly serviceable character action game. A fair amount of abilities and combos to keep to entertained going for the S+ rank. As well as a silly little story full of charm. Such a shame that the secondary story has no little to no combos and the overall game gets boring, because of the lack of variety in enemies and bosses.

game was ok then it plopped me into a "stealth" section and i got bored

Assault Spy is an excellent collection of combat mechanics and character designs contained within an otherwise mediocre package. Fortunately it knows enough not to outstay its welcome, unlike some of the other games I could describe in such a way, and honestly it really is an ABSURDLY good set of mechanics, so I'm inclined to be kind to it.

Super underrated, a very good action game that's more on the DMC side than Platinum which I appreciate. Movesets are very fun to play around with and combat feels great. The story I honestly couldn't care less for but that's not really what you come to an action game for.

Doesn't quite reach the heights in quality as the titans of the genre but for an indie studio, the fact it comes even close and is a fun alternative is commendable.

Assault Spy scratched that Devil May Cry itch for me. Its combat is awesome, but it's obnoxiously frequently interrupted by visual novel style cinematics where the game tries to be funny when it should just allow me to kick robot butt. The game is pretty short, taking me about 6.8 hours to beat the game with both characters and get the true ending, but the price is fair for the content you're getting. I found that one move in the game, Amelia's block and counter attack, to be extremely overpowered and break the balance of the game, but other than that the normal difficulty was well balanced. I also dislike how the game doesn't transfer over your currency from Asaru to Amelia like how Devil May Cry 4 does, this makes the game feel less fun for a little bit when you start your playthrough as Amelia until you unlock more skills. The ranking system also sucks, you can only get S or A ranks, but if you get hit even one time you cannot get an S rank anymore in that section, making A rank feel like a participation medal, there should at least be a B and C rank as well. It has lots of flaws, mostly the bad pacing due to a constant barrage of cutscenes, but the core gameplay is really good and carries the whole game on its back, I highly recommend it for fans of character action games.

This never Happened to me before

i can forgive all the jank (visually and occasionally otherwise) for all the joy this game gives me. it's a game about unbelievably broken characters being balanced out by the varied level design and great enemy variety.

In the unfortunately barren field of its combo-based stylish action genre, Assault Spy shines.

2 attack button character action game AND unlimited dashes don't really mix that well, but the extra presentation package embraces this into a wacky ass romp.
