Absolutely adore the animations. Unfortunately though, because of the angle of the board it can be difficult to see past the pieces. Iirc (thinking back like 25 years lmao) there's no option to flip the board, either.

Simplemente un juego de ajedrez pero con unas animaciones muy bonitas para su tiempo, que hacian mas emocionante cuando alguien se comia una pieza.

Amusing but ponderous game. The novelty wears off pretty quickly waiting for the animations to finish. If you like chess it'd make more sense to go for a more traditional version, without the gimmick. I suppose it can be a good way to introduce children to the game. Not many options available, they're hidden behind the select button.

Jugábamos a esto solo para ver como se mataban las piezas

Que buenos tiempos

The best chess game ever made!

Taught me to play chess and I spent many hours on this game as a kid.

Rook takes Queen scared me as a kid.

I don't normally bother to review video games based on classic games or board games since the logic for them was figured out pretty early and most just became digital versions of the physical thing.

However, I do like it when people take a classic game and add something to it through the power of this medium, which is what brings us to Battle Chess. Nothing crazy here, just animated pieces and kill animations, but it was a cool first step in adding a visual flair to these established games that would only be possible in a video game version.

5 stars for the kill animations but -2.5 stars for being chess

Animations are fun the first time around then just get repetitive and slow. Otherwise it’s very barebones.

One of those classic games that was a very fun way to experience chess. The pieces would come alive and fight whenever you'd take a piece. Initially played this on a Tandy computer with VGA graphics.

Yep. Its Chess alright. Yeah theres full animations but honestly after a game or two, if you're still playing by that point, you'll probably just switch over to the 2D non-animated pieces since you'll have seen everything there is to see. At the same time... Its just virtual chess. I dont really care for chess at the best of times and just sticking glitter on it isnt going to endear me to the game.
