Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure is the epitome of gross-out 90s humor. You play as a farting, booger-flicking superhero on a quest to save the world... It's weird, immature, and surprisingly fun! The platforming is solid, the level design is wacky, and the power-ups are just plain bizarre. The humor won't be for everyone, and it definitely hasn't aged well, but if you're looking for a nostalgic blast of absurd fun, Boogerman delivers.

I played this a lot around the same time I was discovering shows like Beavis and Butthead as a kid, so that probably had something to do with the amount of enjoyment 9 year old me got out of it. As it stands, it's a decent platformer based around the gross-out humor of the 90's, but it still has the trappings of western game design. Wonky hit boxes, large (sometimes confusing) stages and of course secrets tucked behind phony walls. It's not as good as Earthworm Jim, but it's serviceable if you can look past those qualities.

This may have been due to wanting to get into different games or maybe I was not in the mood or a silly game or even it may not have actually been that funny but returning to this game I found myself struggling to enjoy it like I used to back when I played it on the SNES as a kid.

As suggested by the name, you play as a gross superhero named Boogerman fights off enemies by belching, farting and pushing his nose and flicking it at enemies.

I might return to this later and see if I can get more enjoyment out of it.

BOOGER! (Im not talking to you Shangela)

How is it that this game somehow manages to both be absolutely butt ugly but also really good looking at exactly the same time. The overall colours are garish, the text-crawl opening is an eyesore and yet all the characters have tons of frames of animation and are expressionate as hell.

Once you get past the gross out nature of the game, its a pretty standard platformer with some fairly basic levels, nothing too annoying I felt but also nothing im ever going to write home about. Thankfully I happen to quite like platformers as a whole and the game giving a whole host of options to defeat enemies is also quite helpful when it comes to choosing how to take on any given situation.

Less good is the way health is displayed in the game. Rather than use a traditional meter or icon set to display health, the game tries to use the flashing of Boogerman's cape to showcase how much health you have... Problem is, its not very easy to read and calculate, especially in the heat of the moment. Its not a game breaking issue but one worth mentioning.

Still. Its a fairy fun enough platformer, albiet one with a layer of gross out humour and a lead with massive chin.... BOOGER!

I was enticed to play this for obvious reasons but the reality of the matter is that this is an insanely generic and boring platformer with no level variety whatsoever. Every level plays the exact same with the only difference being that the world changes from a pimple theme to a shit theme or something. You could tell me these levels were randomly generated and I would believe it.

The most infuriating thing about this game for me is how much of the screen your sprite takes up. This, paired with the slow booger tossing mechanic which is your main form of attack, makes it so you will constantly run into enemies you can't see unless you're just slowing inching forward, which is what I did for the entire game.

Wasn’t funny back then and it’s not funny now! Decent platformer with booger power-ups. Don’t think I ever beat this one, certain parts were difficult. Boogerman!

Funny, creative platformer! Animation is great. Not much else to say though. I recommend giving it a try if you love MD era games. It's quick and fun.

A very important game for the representation of right brained booger eaters

The only booger I want to eat

The crude humor is funny but it doesnt save this bad bad bad game.

Played it on the sodding wii

esse eh bizarro de bom kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

''if i had superpowers id be just like homelander or omniman''

me with superpowers:

I wanted to rent Earthworm Jim once but it was out, so I rented this instead. Honestly both this and EJ aren't good, but at least EJ has some nice graphics.

Rubbing my chin and thinking heavily playing this game

Jogo muito bonito e engraçado. Me fez rir muito!
Não tem um grau de dificuldade muito grande, mas fácil não é. O único ponto negativo, pra mim, é o fato dele ser bem repetitivo. Mas, no geral, é um bom jogo.

Ridiculously stupid, and also very easy to play and lots of fun.

There were two big themes very prevalent in the 90s for various types of media, it was tons of blood and gore and/or copious amounts of gross out humor. I'm not entirely sure who was responsible for the latter, but I'm just gonna go ahead and belch it at Ren & Stimpy, since I enjoy farting in the general direction of John K.

As you could imagine, Boogerman is full of that stuff to the point you'd be surprised it didn't come with a bunch of Earthbound scratch and sniff samples or a wad of green substance inside the Genesis case. If that were true that'd probably be the least demanded sealed in-box collectible. A messy situation for any collector when their item has to bring a faint stench of unkempt porta potty to the bookshelf.

Going in I was expecting this to be completely below-average at best, but not quite unplayable. I'm not entirely sure where my very low opinion came from, I guess I just have such a distaste to the decade I grew up in that I was expecting the worst like Bloodstorm. The eponymous Boogerman is actually fairly well-equipped to deal with situations, having access to an arsenal of booger flicking, disrespectful loogie hocking, belching, farting, etc. The only complaint I have is that Boogerman cannot belch while in the air, but it's rare that really mattered too much as boogie flicking worked well enough. The worst thing is actually the ability to jump on top of enemies, whose hitbox is often very finicky to the point I'm scared to death of the little shitball enemies as you need to be a bit precise with it.

The lame supervillains you fight as bosses are probably the most queasy part, not entirely because of the hillbilly stereotype poking fun at my heritage but because they all attack faster than Contra Hard Corp bosses, and seem to have more mysterious i-frames than bosses from an SNK fighter. They all follow the same strategy of "shoot a thing, move to the other side of the screen, do a thing maybe, move to the other side, repeat". It's simple, but still annoying when the final boss uses attacks that sweep 80% of the screen. I personally want to know how long it took them to come up with "Deoder Ant", because that just makes me nauseous. I'm nauseous.....I'm nauseous....

I was a bit hard on this one when I logged a rating at first, but playing it again it's more endearing than other bullshit that was out. I'd rather flick boogies at people than have to suffer through Bloodstorm and the other garbage edgelord shit coming out at the time.

A Dick and Lick Adventure
A Shit and Brick Adventure
A Peepee Poopoo Adventure

This might be the first game I’ve ever beaten in my life

Na época era bão, não sei hoje...

Despite what it looks like it's a really good platformer. It's quite different in it's humor but it is a competently well made game with nice visuals and animation.

A great platformer with superb music and level design that it's sadly overlooked for it's hilariously dated gross-out humour.

EDIT: I don't know what I was smoking when I wrote that. The level design is indeed good and the music is indeed superb since Matt Furniss is a genius, but the game's execution is so-so. Boogerman is one of those games where the characters is a little too close to the side of the screen and you will scroll into enemies most of the time. It's a shame because with less zoom this would be a pretty solid game.
