Bound in Blood is a bonified classic that I feel flew completely under the radar in 2009. It's a diamond in the rough of the Call of Juarez franchise, which has far more misses than hits, but without a shadow of a doubt Bound in Blood was a HIT.
Excellent gunplay, excellent story, excellent visuals. It even had an excellent multiplayer mode in a time where a lot of multiplayer modes felt tacked on and half baked. Truly one of the best games of the 360 era.

I REALLY wanted to give this thing a shot (no pun intended). I heard lots of great things and how interesting the dynamic between the brothers was.
Well, I guess it had its moments but for the most part, the shooting gameplay undernined it more than develope it. Speaking of which, for a late PS2 game it shockingly plays like shit. Every weapon feels like it has all the impact of a BB gun, but with slower reloading time than it takes an ant to move a stone across a football field, depth of view and sound design that often makes it difficult to tell where you're being shot from, and some of the absolute WORST hit detection I've ever come across!
I'm willing to play through a bad game if it has some elements of fascination or enjoyment, but here, that extent only goes as far as an arbitrary bullet time gimmick.

From a gameplay perspective, I think this one improved quite a bit compared to the first one. The shooting feels good especially with high rank weapons. You are free to alternate between playable characters, but it doesn't have the same impact as the first game in regards to narrative. It just boils down to what abilities you'll have.
Also the annoying tree swinging sections from the previous game are gone. Instead platforming is locked to a character, so you can choose to ignore it pretty much the entire game.
While the gameplay is more enjoyable in this one, I thought it really fumbled with the story. It felt like it didn't go anywhere and just threw "twists" to keep it somewhat interesting.
It's a funny case where this entry fixed the core gameplay from the previous one, but in turn made the plot really boring to follow along. Still it's nice to play these back to back and feel the difference between the two.

Fun, if a little too linear for its own good. The story and writing, namely the banter between the McCall brothers is fantastic, and the core gameplay is pretty satisfying, but it's hard to ignore how much of a step back it is from the first game. The levels are painfully constricted, making those of the original look like fuckin' Deus Ex, and the Call of Duty setpieces just come one after the other. It has some unique things like the auto cover mechanic and the differing play styles between characters, but they tend to be a little janky (because it wouldn't be a Techland game otherwise). Definitely recommended for the story, but maybe play with a friend so it's not quite as monotonous; after all, that's the big selling point and I'm probably a dumbass for playing it solo.
