Чтож, похоже Дэвид Янг обречен навсегда остаться молодым

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die could've been one of its generation's most legendary head-trips had it gotten a proper completion, but as it stands right now, Season 1 is a weird little experiment whose core mechanics are just a bit too under-developed.

Went into this knowing I would never get a conclusion but it still hurt when the game abruptly ended with so many interesting plot threads open and at such a fun cliffhanger. While I'm glad the fad of releasing games as episodic affairs has mostly died out, this project likely never would have seen the light of day without this type of structure existing and I definitely prefer getting what we got of this rather than nothing at all.

Mesmo incompleto sola a Telltale e a Quantic Dream

I absolutely love this game and my heart shattered seeing the cliff hanger. A cliff hanger that has lasted and will continue to last for years :( it's a real shame this game may never be completed, i'm definitely playing again soon.

The fact we're never getting more is a sin.

Please Swery finish this game SOMEhow its was going so good i was loving this game

Back when Microsoft decided to be a cool company for 2 seconds

This project was officially abandoned. There is not going to be a second season and Season 1 only consists of two episodes. That makes about 4 hours of content.

But those 4 hours... oh boy...

Every night I remember that they took David Young from me

so much potential here and it's always so frustrating and disappointing to me that it didnt get finished!!! the art direction is incredible it's such a great looking game, the characters are unique and charming, and the story (what of it) was so intriguing and genuinely interesting. i so badly wish this had more!!!!! swery im ur biggest fan

lo más parecido a un porro que me he metido en mi vida

Unmatched vibe with wack as fuck controls. It never being completed is a crime against humanity.

Unfortunately, there is no continuation, only 2 episodes

Ran away screaming when I saw the poorly-translated-to-PC Kinect controls.

The game itself is very good! However, unfortunately due to low sales (mostly on Microsoft's side) this game will never be finished. It's pretty much not even a game because of how it's in a unfinished state and sadly we'll never find out who D was as it is now stuck in this loop forever. But there are some positives, getting 100% is possible if you are patient, since you can replay the entire season, whilst keeping all of your points and everything you've unlocked so far.

Sadly I cannot recommend it because it is a unfinished game AND sadly this game is not owned by Swary65 so he'll be unable to return to it. However, the game is great for developers who want to experience a new kind of narrative-driven game and though sadly the game was built about the Kinect (Since Microsoft boasted about how awesome Kinect is and every game for the system will have it's functionality, before they dropped it out of how unpopular it was.) so there are many QTEs, however, thanks to this port allowing the use of the mouse you can complete them with relative ease.

There are many great concepts, this whole thing feels creepy, like being tossed into an episode of the outer limits or The Twilight Zone. Lots of random Swarey65 charm goes into it to that's very unique and makes him one of those many developers you can pick out of a crowd based on how his game is designed. It's just a shame we'll never see this game reach it's full potential.

D4: "Season 1" is just a really enjoyable experience all around. Sadly, as the name suggest only the Season 1 is avaible which includes two episodes + a prologue episode as well. Very short, but a good time nonetheless. It's a weird feeling to know this little gem was one of the first Xbox One games. SWERY, the director of this game made it clear they wanted to make a Kinect focus game, how exactly? This was the result after Microsoft set funding in his team.

This game does an extensive use of the Kinect sensor, it was made for it. Sadly I do not own one personally, and neither want to. Remember how the Kinect was sold to us like a revolution for motion sensoring games? Is not that it wasn't, the idea on paper was solid but on practice it was a technical mess. This is where D4 comes to play, nothing but your arms, hands and good reflex is all you needed to enjoy it. It was easy to pick, and worked around the Kinect technical limitations to bring us something rather unique; a point and click game.

The characters altrough very steriotypically written, were fun to see on screen. Fun, you know, plain quirky japanese fun. It has some serious moments here and there, but they are short lived for the most part (probably reserved for later seasons). Outside of it, there is always that time to rest and relax before things start to get out of hands. On David's house you're able to pick and interact with plenty of objects and I actually liked this part of the game, it reward you for exploring and interacting with set objects and everything has their own animation and gesture you need to do to interact with it.

D4 launched at the time Xbox One was starting to show bad numbers for Microsoft. They might have funded the game, but they didn't want anything to do with it. Sales were poor and it didn't help that Xbox as a brand was being rightfully trashed for their awful corporate decisions. It was the wrong place, at the wrong time. After that, they didn't wanted to continue with the project and just cancelled it outright.

...But can we change the past? We probably can't but money speak louder than words. SWERY probably doesn't want anything to do with D4 at this point, it's been almost 10 years already. Just as David Young time and time again goes back to his house after continuously searching for the truth, we hold the dream that this game gets a Season 2, one that we might just never get.

I'm still holding out hope that this gets finished.

sequels got cancelled :Sobs;sobsobsosb;

The Hunter X Hunter of video games.

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die is a Telltale-like game if that's a term, it puts you in the place of a detective whose wife had died during an accident related to a special drug and the only clue that he has is that he needs to "look for D".

The game plays like you'd expect with point-and-click elements and interactions with characters, the main quirk of this game is the constant use of QTEs which can be a bit annoying, and the addition of a useless "Stamina bar" which whenever you do an action like opening a door or things like that it takes from that bar and you constantly need to eat items that you find around to keep it up.
It serves no purpose other than being here and you don't really need to worry much about it anyway, it's just useless.

The main charm of this game is the characters as they are really unique and all of the situations really show that it is indeed a SWERY game and most importantly, a Japanese game.

I honestly do recommend this game if they want a short and sweet quirky experience as it is quite one of a kind but you just need to keep the mindset that it will never get an ending or anything new since SWERY left Access Games and so he doesn't hold the rights to the game anymore and he doesn't want to purchase it from them.

-wanted to play this since it released,, its fucking bad
-man fuck swery, dude is kinda very problematic. like Ik lots has been said about the deadly premonition games but it’s even bad here. anyone who isn’t the main character is written as a stereotype of their gender/sexuality/race. mf went to the david lynch school of writing and his fans went to the same school as david lynch fans ie excusing a weirdos actions bc of some thin veneer of irony on the creators parts. idrc if it’s supposed to be campy or whatever that doesn’t excuse one dimensional writing and forced mysteries lol
-sucks that the machismo brainrot of early 2010’s action games infected auteurs overseas too. idk u can see the kind of gross nu metal sexism infect work that seems interesting like this and metal gear rising and shadows of the damned to the point that it’s just this hollow irony poisoned campy thing but made for straight men
-literally looks like foodfight…
-music here is very often rlly good and an actual standout!! there’s a very good vocal track buried in here but there’s also this horrible irish/celtic punk song in here because seemingly if this got more episodes it would’ve ripped off the departed
-the bald evil guy looks and sounds exactly like joe biden it’s fucking crazy
-WHY the Boston police department called the BPD lmfaooo

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die is a video game made by Swery, boy genius behind Deadly Premonition and SPY FICTION. A game made during the Telltale craze and infinitely more engaging to play but ends painfully soon. We will never see the conclusion.

we are never gonna know who did it 💀
