being able to become a gladiator at some guys stream was a cool feature and saved the game for me ngl

'tarded r/conservatives contributor dev btw, rest in piss lol

surpreendentemente bem divertido depois que você entende as mecânicas do jogo, da pra passar uma tarde jogando isso aqui bem facinho

Game sucks and dev also very sucks.

My review is detached from the statements of the entirely unhinged developer who deserves totally to be condemned and hopefully never publishes another game so long as he lives.

That said, the game is... Alright? Certainly nothing worth the controversy. I purchased and 100%d it way before he went off the deep end. My time with it was sufficiently enjoyable but it hardly left much of a lasting impression. I remember the races sucking, I think.

it definitely feels better giving games a bad score when they're mechanically inferior to even the most middling Flash games, cut out base game content to sell back to owners as DLC, and then on top of all that the developer also sucks ass

The game is really good but apparently after a year o more and coming back to clean achievements the developers had some transphobic remarks and a later mental breakdown and the game got delisted from Steam so yeah pirate the game or whatever

transphobes are the most unfunny people on the planet

ta bueno eso de ver gladiadores matandose

Shoulda had more depth! I still liked everything that Did work though, great idea. Creator should take another crack at it with a sequel!! ;>

Game was alright, dev had a meltdown and revealed they were a piece of shit and also crazy, claiming they were told by God to hate people who are different and fighting with every person in the community section of their game. Had a further meltdown and made a final community post named "DONE" and removed the game from the store. I don't need to play the game anymore, that's alright.

Colosseum: Road to Freedom came out 12 years before Domina and is a far better gladiator simulator. And recently We Who Are About to Die came out and just took Domina's concept and did it better in every way, and that indie dev isn't a piece of shit, good job.

Imagine being homophobic and transphobic, meanwhile basing your game off of the TV show Spartacus (and don't deny it, the game is full of references to the TV show, from using the phrase Jupiter's Cock to the flayed-man's face to character designs). Spartacus was a very politically forward show with gay main characters in every season who are respected as characters, even showing explicit gay relationships and sex, and also having a trans woman appear within the first four episodes.

Playing since 2017 release time to time, great game. Also based developers lol

Repetitive game made by a bad developer. Overall the only saving grace is it's gameplay loop, but it boring, plus the dev is a bad person.

Banger soundtrack. Game is alright, though playing manually during combat kinda sucks. You gotta buy the AI upgrades for the game to feel fair. Having your gladiators die feels really punishing to the point where I honestly just feel like resetting to avoid the hassle.

Also, as others have said, the developer had a weird mental breakdown in the game's patch notes. Kinda funny, but also sad. Dude could've put that energy into making some pretty good games, this one had some nice ideas going for it. Shame.

Developer is so unhinged that the infamously hands-off Valve banned them from posting in their own game's forums, so they've taken to posting their 1. transphobic, 2. anti-masker, and 3. conspiracy theory-laden ramblings in the patch notes, one of which has been marked as a "MAJOR UPDATE" (lol) on Steam, simply titled "DONE"

Some links for those of you who would prefer to see the evidence:
- Imgur album of their Steam ""updates"" - fair warning, these are genuinely hateful
- Their now-banned Twitter account
- from the dev's steam profile lmao

RIP BOZO. fuckin loser

crazy fascist developer who managed to be too right wing for even the steam community (which is saying something). just check the patch notes on the steam page

Update: the developer got banned from steam. Lol. Lmao even.

Update 2: I forgot half a star ratings exist

Interesting game, but the UI is horrible and it's a mess.

Gladiator management where you pay to equip and train your gladiators to fight in battles scheduled ever few days, championship matches, and pit fights. Nice art style works well with it but the randomness of some events and fights and some odd story decisions hurt it a bit. The larger battles can become too difficult to really see well, which is a shame because 1 vs 1 fights can look good. A bit too limiting in what you can do but fun for a little while.
