Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon- Ubisoft made a stand-alone dlc for Far Cry 3 which has no relationship to the main game and instead is its own game set in a different universe. You don’t even need the main game to play this dlc since you can play it without owning Far Cry 3 and this dlc got rerelease day when Far Cry 6 came out. The story is very silly and over the top like the first game, but Blood Dragon is self aware of how silly its story Andy dialogue is and feels more like a parody of 80s action movies. This game has a lot of references to 80s movies and culture so this game is a love letter for those that love the 80s (like me). The main character is voiced by Michael Biehn (Kyle Reese from Terminator and Corporal Hicks from Aliens) who was famous in the 80s so they got a famous actor from the 80s to voice the main character. The gameplay is the same as Far Cry 3 but with no crafting system since the game is very short. I enjoyed Blood Dragon despite its short length and is a gem for those that love 80s culture. 7 out of 10
Blood Dragon is pure 80s action movie goodness distilled into a video game. Think neon lasers, cyborgs, cheesy one-liners, and absolute absurdity! The shooting is solid, the missions are over-the-top fun, and the soundtrack is seriously killer. Sure, the story is short, and it gets repetitive if you play it for too long, but if you want a blast of retro nostalgia and just want to blow stuff up, Blood Dragon delivers!
As of writing this review, this is the only Far Cry I have played. But what a blast! The chrome neon 80s aesthetic is overplayed these days, but this did it so well, it still looks good.
Content-wise it is teetering between a great DLC and a short game. But because of this it isn’t bogged down by needless additions and is instead pure fun for a shorter time.

Gameplay-wise, it’s Far Cry 3 with some cool new weapons in a neon coat of paint, so if you like Far Cry 3 you’ll like this. That is, however, if you can get down with this game’s writing and aesthetic. Blood Dragon thinks it’s far more funny and clever than it actually is. There are a few bits that got genuine laughs out of me but for the most part it’s the most one-note parody of 80’s action films you could possibly imagine.
Edit: Bringing the score down from a 3 to a 2 after thinking about it further. I said that if you like Far Cry 3 you’ll like Blood Dragon, but imagine if Far Cry 3 was way easier and spent its entire runtime yelling the most obnoxious jokes at you and winking at the camera every 2 minutes. That’s the Blood Dragon experience and it’s just as tiring as it sounds.
