CHILDREN OF THE LAND DO YOU HEAR
ECHOES OF TRUTHS THAT ONCE RANG CLEAR
TWO SOULS INTERTWINED
ONE TRUE LOVE THEY DID FIND
BRINGING LAND AND HEAVENS NEAR
BUT FLAMES THAT BURN FULL BRIGHT, SOON FELL DARK
MEMORIES DIMMED BY SHADOWED HEARTS
IN THE WAXING GLOOM DID WANE THE LOVER'S MOON
WATCHING AS THEIR WORLDS DRIFT APART
ONE SOUL'S CRY
A PASSION DWELLING WITHIN
SACRIFICE, A FINAL PLEA TO HER KIN
YET THIS BOND OF HOPE, BY TREACHERY WAS BROKE
SCATTERING HER WORDS TO THE WIND
SWELLING OVER LONG,
SEAS OF BLOOD, ARE A SONG
AND DEATH AN AFTERTHOUGHT
TO THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR NAUGHT
A THRONE, LYING EMPTY
A REIGN, INCOMPLETE
ALONE, FOR ETERNITY
A PAIN, WITHOUT CEASE
CHILDREN OF THE LAND, ANSWER THIS
WHY MUST YOU TURN TO EMPTY BLISS
TELL ME WHY BREAK TRUST, WHY TURN THE PAST TO DUST
SEEKING SOLACE IN THE ABYSS
TELL ME WHY CREATE, A CIRCLE NONE CAN BREAK
WHY MUST YOU LET GO, THE LIFE YOU WERE BESTOWED
THIS I FEAR I'LL NEVER KNOW

This is what the entirety of Heavensward was building up to, and it delivered in such a divine way. This is a genuinely perfect conclusion to the story set up in Heavensward against Nidhogg and with Estinien. So many moments that genuinely gave me goosebumps and got me so excited. Hearing Dragonsong for the first time truly was an ethereal experience, I don't know how anything else can top this. This is what I've been playing FFXIV for, this moment.

Patch 3.3 presents a new standard in quality for future patches. This is the true ending to Heavensward, bringing a resolution to the Dragonsong War, and ushering in a new era for Ishgard proper. I'll admit, I was somewhat adamant at first, with the first couple of MSQs meandering a bit, but once I got to the dungeon, it did not let up.

The trial against Nidhogg was the best in the game up to this point, and my first attemot was a pretty hilarious party wipe. Epic fight. And when Ysayle and Haurchefant showed up to help from the beyond? Oh man, I almost bawled. Just beautiful.

Oh... and was that Alisaie I saw near the end? It's about time!

Peak. This ending for Heavensward was so insanely good. I don't know what to say other than it's peak. I've heard constantly about how amazing Shadowbringers and Endwalker are, and if they are somehow better than the stuff the team had on display for Heavensward and this patch I think FF14 may easily become a top 5 game of all time for me

10/10

While defeating Thordan and the Knights was indeed an important step in solving the main conflict surrounding Ishgard, it had always been a stepping stone. Nidhogg posed a much stronger and fearsome character—we hear about his suffering, the length of his rage, his cruel plan, and his peerless power through almost every chapter of Heavensward (and the dragoon job quest in 2.0).

This feels like the actual ending of Heavensward and, as beautifully climactic as it was, I somewhat resent all of this wasn't included on the base expansion.

My favorite expansion of FFXIV so far

The perfect conclusion to Heavensward. Peak expansion, I cannot believe this was free.

As good as everyone said it was! Solid dungeon and absolutely killer trial. Music was a real highlight in this one. All in all, Heavensward's story was a bit disappointing especially after all the praise I've heard about it, but it ended on a really high note.

Heavensward was blessed with having the best patches so far. Instead of starting a new story or completely focusing on what's to come in Stormblood. It continues the plot started in heavensward, only a part of the conflict was resolved in 3.0 .
At this point the MSQ felt genuinely really busy with a lot of different threads and side plots going on at once and it was a really nice feeling. To me, 3.3 represents how strong XIV's slow storytelling can be and how well it can pay off. They build up and had this moment. It slowly shows you the ripples of the conflict through every avenue.

So far every expansions .1 to .5 patches have not been able to be as consistently high and engaging as these patches were.
