It was just another run-of-the-mill shooter for me.

Started hardest diffidulty today, got to Mother Plant Xenome, and ended for today. Was deffently a wake-up call from my memory, over half what I have been playing I could not remember.

Far from a perfect game but a fun sci-fi romp with interesting designs and visuals and a stunner for the GoldSrc engine. Anyone who is active in playing Half-Life total conversions have probably already played this but if you haven't then it's in your best interest to due so. This was brought to you by nostalgic bias.

i'm going to give this game an actual review, since 99% of people won't play this

this game is really, really fun.

it's not... super good, it's no masterpiece, but it is very fun, the weapons have a cool and more in depth customization system than most shooters, they don't have to reload, which i think is a way to balance that, but i really do enjoy the guns, they are creative and you never stop using any of them, they're all equally useful, even the starting pistol.

the levels are nice looking (considering when it came out) and the story while definitely not on par with half life, is interesting enough, and pulls off well the different "factions" fighting eachother

it makes a great use of it's engine, and is a worthwhile time, genuinely underrated, i'm glad i decided to play all gold source games for this alone.

A short fun singleplayer mode that fizzles out towards the end, built on GoldSrc so it feels great even if a couple of the weapons are kind of useless. Every weapon having adjustable firing modes was really cool even if some configurations are clearly better than others.
I was lucky enough to play some multiplayer on this just a few years ago and that was enjoyable enough, even if the meta consists of three guns on extremely specific firing modes.

ENG: Worthy apprentice of Half-Life. More not being a crude clone of this post that has its own identity.

ESP: Digno aprendiz de Half-Life. Más no siendo un burdo clon de este puesto que cuenta con su propia identidad.

This was a pretty neat game and the gun switching mechanic was cool too. WHY HAVE THEY NOT MADE A SEQUEL TO THIS GAME. It's setting has so much potential, the gameplay was really fun, the world is rife with story potential. Valve I believe has the rights to it, someone should convince Gaben to do a sequel.

it's got dinosaurs and that alone makes it objectively better than Opposing Force

This not being up on steam for everyone to experience is a crime against humanity and an affront to god.

First off; the GUNS.
About every gun is customizable. and no i don't mean "add a suppresor" or some LAME BABY SHIT like that!

Your pistol unlike most games of the period remains useful for the whole game, it can switch between working like a halo plasma pistol, a laser gun and even sniper riffle!

Your shotgun lets you adjust the tightness of the spread and lets you choose how many shells you fire per shot. you can load up to 4 shells which is so many; the recoil physically moves the player like, 2ft backwards.

If i keep talking about the weapons i'll be here forever. but, it can not be understated how awesome the customization systems are in this. i have never seen a game with a system like this.

The story kinda has a crappy b-movie esque charm to it and is mostly held up a by a evil AI turned allies by circumstance.

The music is actually pretty good and the game itself looks great for GldSrc. even today it might be the best game i've seen in the engine.

Set-piecing is great, you go from a space station, to ancient ruins, to a laboratory on a moon in descending orbit, to a old-west styled planet, its all just really creative and cool.

Fun fact: all the textures in the game were hand made by clay. it gives the visuals a very unique feel you don't see anywhere else.

to close it off; PLAY THIS. go to Moddb and and get it. its free if you own Half-Life.
if you complete the install progress and it doesn't show up in steam, check your hidden games.

Valve wont put this on steam cus if they did nobody would buy anything else.

Gameplay vás nikdy nebude nudit, jedinou věc, kterou bych vytknul by byla jedna sekce v tunely plné vody, kde nemáte ponětí, co dělat.
Režim pro více hráčů nemohu ohodnotit, protože ho nemohu s nikým hrát.

A tightly paced campaign which does it's own thing as much as it emulates that game that lead to the development of the mod it sprung from being shifted from the Quake 2 engine to GoldSRC.

Un bug me cago la partida

A super awesome and underappreciated gem. Something about the feeling of GoldSRC games is just so charming to me. It has such a unique and creative weapon selection, all of which have an insane amount of customization. Also legitimately interesting worldbuilding/lore. Would love to see this get some kind of resurrection, there's legit potential here for a franchise, or at the very least a sequel/reboot.
