Half-Life (1998) was really good already, but the sequel, although it is different from its predecessor, once again proved that Valve can do real wonders. Its graphics are amazing for the time the sequel came out (2004), actually, it really was a great year for videogames, up there with DOOM 3 and some others -- games from back there really did evolve video game technology, cimented their future. And Half-Life 2 one of their responsibles. Might be the foundation, once again, of how FPS would evolve.
A really cool and atmospheric game. Some of the puzzles and shooting gameplay felt really fun and unique and the game still looks really good to me atleast. I found however the enviroments in the game to sometimes be really bland and a low enemy variety fails to sometimes change up the gameplay. The episode in ravenholm was my favourite as it felt unique and distinct. The story also lacked really memorable moments. Some of the combat against the flying helicopters and the striders felt really inconsistent and sometimes annoying. The abundance of vehicle sections also made the game feel like a drag at times and i felt done with it at the very end.

Well, I tried...
I feel like I have to beat it cause everyone praise this game, but it's not fun at all. I get It's revolutionary, the face expressions are way advanced for it's time, the story, etc.
Same enemies, weird rocket launcher handling, I don't know. Didn't click with me and I wanna play other stuff
Maybe I'll beat it later, stopped at highway 17

Half Life’s signature run and gun style is translated extremely well into this game, although I feel it sits in an odd place as a sequel in a lot of aspects. Its world structure resembles nothing of the marine-destroyed hallways from Black Mesa proper. Not a criticism per se just what’s on my mind as I write these.
