I remember playing a demo of this game back in the day and as the original Jurassic Park world builder, it wasn't too bad.

Another game I've spent thousands of hours, I spent a lot of dawns playing it. I even changed scripts to make the game less grind-y and less limited.
I was a dino nerd back then, so this game was on my top 5 during those times.

I’ve been a longtime dinosaur kinda guy and this game is to blame, another one I really rigorously recommend from my childhood.
The game itself is a park management game but with dinosaurs and for the most part it works extravagantly well, with my only real main issue being that you’re only locked to three dig sites per save. It’s really joyous to be able to realise John Hammonds dream without the catastrophes.

Good enough management game with its strengths presented in the spotlight: the dinosaurs. The game understands what the player might like and want and gives it to them to the best effort the development team could give. The best Jurassic Park game.

Now, this one bothers me because it is the only damn Jurassic Park game I haven’t found physical for my Xbox and that infuriates me…
But that has nothing to do with my review…

This game gave me something I never knew I needed, at a time where I absolutely wanted it.
Being a huge fan of Jurassic Park/World, this game gave me the opportunity to role play as my very own version of John Hammond, and create the perfect Jurassic Park I never thought could even happen.
And just like in the film, it was not meant to happen…
The many different things that can go wrong in this game keep you on your toes at all times as you try to reach the maximum star rating possible, from weather problems like rain and hurricanes, down to more, typical, Jurassic problems like, certain species wanting to wreck havoc around your civilian-riddled park.
Still, the reward factor of slowly building your park has no equal, from sending teams to dig up new skeletons and completing DNA sequences for more species, to researching new security measures and park attractions.
I swear, it’s so fun and intuitive, it physically prevents you from leaving the game FOR HOURS, as you get closer and closer to the final goal.
Apart from the classic sim aspects of the game, it also has some interactive sections that make it a little bit more of a hands-on challenge.
From driving around and experiencing your rides in first person, to chasing down roaming dinosaurs and bringing them back to their enclosures, it definitely has a lot for everyone who plays it.
Now all of these things Can also be found in today’s Jurassic World Evolution games, which are basically spiritual successors to the original al Operation Genesis, however, while good and fun on their own, I still firmly believe none of them were able to fully stick the landing about as good as Genesis did.
Is this nostalgia speaking?…. Most definitely.
But it is one that matches the opinions voiced by many who still revere this game as perhaps the best Jurassic Park game ever made.
And I kinda agree.
Somehow, somewhere… this game, still… found a way.

Same energy as removing the ladder from a Sims swimming pool, except it's letting a Spinosaurus loose on the theme parks toilet.
One of my very first park builders, will always have a special place in my heart.
Theme park building games are so fun, and this one has dinosaurs! There's also more game mods. You can get into a car and take pictures, and be chased by carnivores, it's great.
Zoo Tycoon with dinosaurs. Half of the fun is planning and building a secure and successful Jurassic Park with a variety of dinosaurs, the other half is releasing the carnivores and watching them hunt down your visitors.

A true childhood classic. It has way more depth under the hood than one might think, but it still feels a bit underbaked as a whole

Operation Genesis is a really solid management sim game that shows you the potential Jurassic Park has as an IP when it comes to great video-game experiences. Operation Genesis gives you the opportunity to act out what Hammond went through as he had the park constructed in the original film. Not really, but this would probably be Hammond's wet dream. Build, create life, maintain and keep your customers coming in and assure their satisfaction. Or, alternatively, you can just let the carnivores roam free and eat the humans visiting your hellish park. That's a lot of fun too! Game has aged really well, especially in comparison to the more greedy new Jurassic Park management games that lack the same attention to detail as Operation Genesis did two decades ago.
This is one of the best "Tycoon" games ever made. Super in depth, too bad it's stranded on really old hardware.

Managed to find this for £3 second hand. Few weeks later, after playing it to death, sold it for £35. Only game that's ever made me money!
